Artists Talk: Myungchan Kim & Ahyeon Ryu: 시대전술

8 November 2025
Overview

As part of the public program for Tactics for an Era, we will be holding an Artist Talk with participating artists Myungchan Kim and Ahyeon Ryu. This event offers an opportunity to hear the artists’ thoughts on their artistic practice, the new works presented in this exhibition, and their future directions. We look forward to your participation.

Myungchan Kim studied Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and completed his graduate studies at Hongik University. Based between Seoul and the U.S., his practice explores the intersections of the body and the virtual, the physical and the digital. Through painting and installation, he examines how sensory experience and data-driven environments converge. Recent solo exhibitions, Synthetic Breath and Offline Body, highlight his experimental approach to contemporary bodily perception.

Ahyeon Ryu graduated in Sculpture from Hongik University and currently works between Seoul and the UK. Her practice investigates the processes of perception shaped within social systems, aiming to visualize the conditions of individuals marginalized under capitalism. Drawing on performance and object-based strategies, she examines how individuals respond to social phenomena, often incorporating regional characteristics and spatial interaction into a sculptural language.
